Listening to His Voice
Tamim loyalty is revealed in whose voice is trusted, received, and obeyed.
Day 9 — Listening to His Voice
Why This Comes After Day 8
Day 8 showed that tamim is perfect and loyal — undivided in allegiance before YAHUAH. Day 9 now reveals how that loyalty is expressed: by listening to the voice He sends.
Covenant loyalty is not abstract. It is shown in whose words are received as authoritative and whose instruction is obeyed.
The Contrast in the Passage
In the surrounding verses, Yisra’al is warned not to seek direction through the practices of the nations. They were not to go after sorcery, divination, or false spiritual systems.
Instead, YAHUAH says He Himself will provide the voice they are to hear. This means tamim requires rejecting false sources of guidance and receiving the Word that truly comes from Him.
You Must Listen to Him
This phrase is central. In Hebrew thought, listening is not merely hearing sound. It carries the sense of receiving, yielding, and responding in obedience.
To listen to the One YAHUAH sends means to let His words shape the path, the decisions, and the walk. It is not passive attention. It is submitted response.
His Words Come From YAHUAH
YAHUAH says, “I will put My Words in His mouth.” This means the authority of the message does not come from human insight, personality, or force. It comes from YAHUAH Himself.
That is why listening becomes a covenant issue. To reject His Word is not simply to disagree with a messenger. It is to resist the One who spoke.
What This Reveals About Aluah’s Character
This passage reveals that YAHUAH is not distant or silent toward His people. He provides guidance, speaks clearly, and gives a trustworthy word.
He does not leave His people to invent direction for themselves. He speaks because He is faithful, involved, and committed to leading those who belong to Him.
The Connection to Tamim
Tamim requires more than inward sincerity. It requires outward loyalty to the Word of YAHUAH.
A heart may claim loyalty, but if it continues to seek direction from competing voices, then that loyalty is still divided. Tamim becomes visible when the life is governed by the voice of YAHUAH alone.
Reflect
- What voices compete most strongly for my trust and attention?
- Do I treat the Word of YAHUAH as final, or as one voice among many?
- Where have I been listening, but not yet responding in obedience?
- What would it look like for His voice to govern one specific area of my life more fully?
Palal
YAHUAH,
Teach me to listen to Your voice with loyalty and reverence. Do not let my heart seek direction from what does not come from You.
Remove the noise of competing voices and strengthen my trust in what You have spoken. Let Your Word become final in me.
Make me quick to hear, ready to obey, and steady in response. Let my life be governed by Your voice alone.
Make me tamim.
Ahlaluyah.
Practice
Today, pay attention to what voice is most practically directing your responses and decisions.
- Identify one area where you are tempted to lean on another source for guidance or security
- Write down the Word of YAHUAH that speaks to that area
- Before making one decision today, pause and ask, “What has YAHUAH already said?”
- Choose obedience to His voice even if another voice feels easier or more familiar
